I am currently studying with the Open University for a Masters Degree in Computing for Commerce and Industry. As part of my degree I am undertaking a research thesis on ‘Methods of End-User Application Development within the Pharmaceutical Industry’. This questionnaire forms part of the data collection for this thesis, and is being sent to various people who are knowledgeable in both Software development and the Pharmaceutical industry. It should only take about five to ten minutes to fill in. The results will be analysed and reported within my dissertation.
The questionnaire is available as a pdf or a word document
For the purpose of this questionnaire Development is taken to be ‘the process of producing a system to meet a perceived need’. The development process may be coding, customisation of an off the shelfproduct (Lims, ERP etc), use of a fourth generation software tool to develop a solution (i.e Excel, Access, Business Objects etc) or just implementation of an off the shelf product with no customisation. The development project could be lead by an Information Systems Department (IS / IT) or an end-user department.
I am hoping to collect data on a wide range of projects / methods, so If you wish to give data on several different projects you have worked on, I would be very grateful. Please do so on separate copies of the questionnaire.
All answers will be dealt with in confidence. All identifying features will be removed and only generalised results published. The name and description of the project will only be used to collate responses from several people working on the same project and will not be published.
For any questions or comments, or for copies of the general results of this questionnaire, please contact me at

Unfortunatley I haven't got a completely web based approach to this survey, but there is a form based pdf of it at http://www.paulhurley.co.uk/CRS_Development_Methodology_questionnaire.pdf or as a word document at http://www.paulhurley.co.uk/CRS_Development_Methodology_questionnaire.doc
Thank you for your time.
Paul Hurley.
